nowville. sourthern.

I read a great article about Nashville in the New York Times this week. It talked of Nashville being the "it" city right now.  I can see why with the music scene, job growth, housing market and the growing food scene.  Last night my hubs agreed I needed a girls night, so one of my college roommates that recently moved back to Nash from NYC, went to the Southern.  Great atmosphere, and not too long of wait with all the people coming in and out.  I have to share my favorite dish with you all.

The Saffire Steak Biscuits...oh girl.  I could eat these all day long.  They took two bleu cheese biscuits and filled them with grilled beef tenderloin and horseradish demi.  To. die.for.

just a little note.

Check out these cutest cards from Amy Adele.

She has the cutest designs for notecards and such and today most styles are 50%.

I am a sucker for anything monogrammed and personalized, especially now with Asher :)

Enjoy!

20 things a mom should tell her son.

Jesus' Birthday has come and gone...today is a rainy/snowy day...I am getting everything organized after the all the Christmas festivies.  It was wonderful to spend a week in Anniston last week.  The week of Dec. 17th was a big week...my parents sold their house and I got a new job as Recruiter/HR Generalist at NaviHealth.  With these happenings, I had a week off to spend with family and my little Asher. God is so good and His timing is perfect. We can't wait for Patsy and Arthur to be in Nashville!

I will make sure and post some Christmas pics in the days to come...Asher had a BIG time and is resting up today.  There is nothing like seeing Christmas in the eyes of a child.  Christmas is a lovely time to spend with family.  My father in love shared a wonderful passage with me last night.  It explains a lot in how Justin was raised and how his grandfather raised his dad.  Justin and I will do our best to keep instilling these values in Asher.  I just had to share this with all you mom's and mom's to be.

1. Play a sport.
It will teach you how to win honorably,
lose gracefully, respect authority,
work with others, manage your time
and stay out of trouble.
And maybe even throw or catch.

2. You will set the tone
for the sexual relationship,
so don't take something away from her
that you can't give back.

3. Use careful aim when you pee.
Somebody's got to clean that up, you know.

4. Save money when you're young
because you're going to need it someday.

5. Allow me to introduce you
to the dishwasher, oven,
washing machine, iron,
vacuum, mop and broom.
Now please go use them.

6. Pray and be a spiritual leader.

7. Don't ever be a bully
and don't ever start a fight,
but if some idiot clocks you,
please defend yourself.

8. Your knowledge and education is something
that nobody can take away from you.

9. Treat women kindly.
Forever is a long time to live alone
and it's even longer to live with somebody
who hates your guts.

10. Take pride in your appearance.

11. Be strong and tender at the same time.

12. A woman can do everything that you can do.
This includes her having a successful career
and you changing diapers at 3 A.M.
Mutual respect is the key to a good relationship.

13. "Yes ma'am" and "yes sir"
still go a long way.

14. The reason that they're called "private parts"
is because they're "private".
Please do not scratch them in public.

15. Peer pressure is a scary thing.
Be a good leader and others will follow.

16. Bringing her flowers for no reason
is always a good idea.

17. It is better to be kind
than to be right.

18. A sense of humor
goes a long way
in the healing process.

19. Please choose your spouse wisely.
My daughter-in-law will be the gatekeeper for me
spending time with you and my grandchildren.

20. Remember to call your mother
because I might be missing you.

winding road.

I'm jamming out to Songza. It is a music site I found - you may have heard of it by now.

The song "Winding Road" by Bonnie Somerville always takes me right where I need to be.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
(2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

We may not know where this road is taking us.  One thing I know - it is no surprise to the man above.  He already has it all mapped out.  We just have to trust Him along the journey.

oh Christmas treats.

My mom and I would always bake at Christmas time.  It was a tradition where we stayed up many late nights.  Last Friday I made a Christmas tree out of cookies... I cut different size stars out of the dough and slowly built the tree by stacking them at different angles.  I was proud - made my own icing and everything.  Too bad I didn't take a picture to show you all.

So in the next week I will begin another project - baking for Asher's daycare teachers.  A dear friend sent me this splendid idea...loving this entire website actually.

I am on it...filling these cute little bags with cookies and other goodies.

Happy baking!

Patience.

Patience is not a virtue that comes naturally to me.  Lately I have wondered what God has been up to.  He has taught me the true meaning of this verse.  It is just beautiful!

Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!
Psalm 27:14
It has been said that the LORD is never early, never late but always on time. If the LORD's timing isn't lining up with yours, take courage and be strong in the waiting. He is faithful!

On this note, I have wanted a rose gold watch for quite some time, but felt guilty spending money on a flashy, material thing, so remained patient for about a year... when I found a Macy's gift card I didn't know I had and they were having 25% for Friends and Family....I made the splurge.

Merry little Christmas to me!  Some other rose gold pieces that are much fun - all from Etsy...

I am lovin' the love bracelet...
you can order it here

Happy weekend!

Let there be light....

A good friend sent me the sweetest text message today of encouragement.  She reminded me of Psalm 119:105 "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."  What a wonderful verse.  The Bible is an incredible road map for every step of our life.  We can take one day at a time seeking God's face for direction. On the rainy Monday, it is a great reminder of His love and power.  We can look at our problems in the light of God's power instead of looking at God in the shadow of our problems.

Speaking of light...Here are some lamps I am fond of....would like to put in our next place :)  From cheap to chic...these are a few of my favorites.  Driftwood is special to me for many reasons.  It reminds me of when Justin and I got engaged on the beach and the cross behind us,  my love of the ocean and bringing it inside, and it is earthy and a "green" way to dress up your home.

Go be the light in this world!
